Sri Lankan ambassadors sent by successive governments to the UN have been chosen for this capacity to block the UN from acting on their human rights violations and have been very successful. This shows how the UN can continue to be a platform for the oppressive states and the oppressed have no representation at the UN.
Hence there needs to be urgent need for UN reform but then members who want to hide their human rights records exceed those who need NOT do so and hence it is going to be difficult to see any reform at the UN. The oppressed have no future in this world unless the oppressors themselves change their heart.
