Timeline: Falk’s reaction

Reaction: UN’s Falk Denies, Then Deletes Anti-Semitic Cartoon

After UN Watch today exposed his publication of an anti-Semitic cartoon, the UN Human Rights Council’s Richard Falk first denied publishing the cartoon—and then deleted it. See his blog here.

For those wishing to see a screen-capture of the original post prior to its deletion by Falk, please click here. And as of the sending of this briefing, Mr. Falk has still not deleted the cartoon from his blog’s image database.

  • Falk’s first reaction today to UN Watch: “It is a complete lie. I know nothing about such a cartoon, and would never publish such a thing, ever.”

  • Falk: “Maybe I do not understand the cartoon, and if it offends in this way I have removed it from the blog. It may be in bad taste to an extent I had not earlier appreciated, but I certainly didn’t realize that it could be viewed as anti-semitic, and still do not realize.”

The simple fact is that Mr. Falk has routinely supported and praised anti-Semites from Iran’s Ahmadinejad to the Hamas terrorist organization. It’s no wonder that he still doesn’t realize the problem.

UN Watch once again calls on UN rights chief Navi Pillay to condemn Mr. Falk’s act of hatred, only the latest in his pattern and practice of legitimizing murderers, terrorists and anti-Semites. We salute other human rights groups that have pledged to add their voices in calling on Ms. Pillay to take action.

  • This email I tried to send to Richard Falk via his Princeton address

    Sir,

Having seen the cartoon on your blog you appear to be nothing more than a self-hating Jew. You disgust me. It appears to me and other proud Jews that you are trying to distance yourself from your wonderful Jewish heritage. One cannot call you naive. Because of this cartoon and reading your comments, post publication, once you had been found out, first of all denying all knowledge of the existence of this offensive anti-semitic material and secondly squirming and wriggling your way out of it by saying you did not understand and still do not realise it could be viewed as anti-semitic. You call yourself an assimilated American Jew. When your forebears came to live in America I wonder whether they would be proud of you. I should think that they were quite familiar with anti-semitism and pogroms in their land of birth. They would view your self-hate with dismay and shame. There is a saying Mr. Falk, “There is no fool like an old fool”.

I do hope that Richard Falk sees this email. Maybe there is a way that you can forward it to him.

  • I’d love to post a reply that says everything I am thinking. But kids may accidentally read what I post, & I don’t think their parents would appreciate me teaching them those sorts of words, & so many of them.

  • I AM AT A LOSS TO UNDERSTAND THE MINDSET OF SUCH PEOPLE AS RICHARD FALK WHO SEEK NOTORIETY THROUGH VERBALISED FLAGELLATION. JUST WHAT DOES HE AIM TO PROVE ONE WONDERS? KEEPING FAITH WITH HIMSELF AND ACKNOWLEDGING WHAT HE REALLY IS – NOW THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING. DENIAL OF SELF ONLY LEADS TO MORAL AND SPIRITUAL DESTRUCTION. FALK SHOULD REALISE THAT TAKING THE ‘PISS’ OUT OF THE JEWS WILL NOT ELEVATE HIM TO ANY GREAT STATUS WITH HIS ‘PEERS’.

  • THERE YOU HAVE IT – HE DOESN’T EVEN HAVE THE COURAGE TO ADMIT TO HIS ‘CRIME’!!!!!!!! WHAT A TOSSER.

  • It was probably a hacker.

  • If Richard Falk didn’t understand that this cartoon was anti-Semitic then maybe he should be removed from the Human Rights Council because it’s obvious that he’s not capable of discerning right from wrong. I’m sure there are other more deserving people who could take his place.

The U.N. has become a corrupt organization that has been proven to be anti-American and anti-Semitic, and getting worse every day. I suggest that we defund them and kick them out of America. It’s obvious that when they put people like this, and worse, on the Human Rights Council then they sorely lack the judgment needed to make basic Human Rights decisions.

Have they seen this video? I wonder what Mr. Richard Falk would think of the Hamas then? Maybe he should start doing something about these Hamas mass-murderers who are killing people just because they are playing music at a wedding instead of demonizing Jews.

  • Never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity.

  • Mr. Falk, never heard of him, now has his 15 minutes of infamy as a Nazi sympathizer…I can’t remember the name Jews gave to the Jewish collaborators in WWII, but as they say, history repeats itself, the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce.

    Putz.

  • I took Richard Falk’s course “Introduction to world order” at Princeton in 1980, and he was every bit the lefty then that he is now. This is not even remotely surprising.

  • I was a student of Falk’s some decades ago. He is medically insane and has been for some years and therefore and cannot be blamed for behaving as such. The fact that the UN Human Rights Council thinks he is useful to them says more about them than about him.

  • I suspect that he would “get it” if you were to Photoshop Mohammed’s head onto the dog.

  • What a hack. He can’t even draw a Jewish looking dog? But instead relies on the artistic shortcut of a yamika?

Back in my day, our charismatic psychopathic mad men had some talent. And if they didn’t have the talent themselves, they weren’t too cheap to pay for it. And if they didn’t have the money to pay for the talent, at least they weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and claim the wealth of people they just liquidated.

  • There is nothing wrong with what that creep has done.He is beeing a loyal OB team player.
What is wrong is their use of the UN to pedal their crap re Israel.
So why do we hugely support the UN?Because we want to show how broadminded we are.Now is a good time to save a few pennies by cotributing at the same rate as China and Russia. And throw in the IMF,a few mre pennies saved.

  • “Never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity.”

We’ve been trying that for years and it’s made the world more dangerous. How about we quit excusing with stupidity that which is more likely malice?

  • “Never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity.”

Don’t forget the second part: “Never rule out malice.”

  • Could someone translate the words on the top of the cartoon please.

  • Apparently it means “Blind Justice”

  • Thanks. Talk about a misnomer!! There are so many ways that “Blind Justice” title could be turned against this piece of crap “anti-Semitic cartoon” I am truly at a loss of words..

  • My guess is he missed the yarmulke on the head of the dog and thought it was just the USA being depicted.

  • My initial reaction to this cartoon is that the dog represents Israel, not necessarily Jews. Agree or disagree with the message of the cartoon, I don’t see it as necessarily antisemitic.

Unless that writing in the upper right corner translates to “Jews suck” or something, I don’t see it.

I would still say it’s offensive and inappropriate, but “antisemitic” gets tossed around too quickly.

  • I think I’m missing it. I understand the charge that it’s offensive, but not so much that it’s anti-*Semitic* as opposed to anti-Isreal (and America). Is it because of what the Arabic says (which I can’t read)? Or- it’s only just occurred to me–is it that the dog represents American jews, rather than the US Isreal, and that makes it more anti-semitic than anti-Isreal?

  • @TigerHawk: So being a “lefty” means being an anti-Semite? That’s ridiculous. Please do immediately commit suicide, for the sake of the world.

  • If Mr. Falk cannot understand why the cartoon he published is anti-semitic, then he CLEARLY lacks the sort of basic intelligence that should be a prerequisite for serving on an important UN human rights committee. Or for teaching at Princeton!

Otherwise (and this is the one I believe is true), he knows perfectly well what is anti-semitic about the cartoon, but CHOSE to affect ignorance . . . which is even worse!
